Choosing a licence
Which licence do I need?
Pick every way you'll use the font. Designing on your computers, print, PDFs, images and social posts need Desktop and print. A website needs Web. An app or game needs Apps and games. Video ads, film or TV need Video and broadcast. E-books need E-books and digital publications. Then choose the band for your company size. The licence page lists what each one covers.
How do I count company size?
Count everyone who works for the company that will hold the licence, including part-timers and regular contractors. A freelancer working alone is Just me. If you grow into a bigger band later, upgrade within 90 days and pay only the difference.
Can I use the font in a logo?
Yes. Logo and trademark use comes with every Desktop and print licence, at no extra cost. You can register the logo as a trademark. You own the logo and we keep the rights in the font.
Do web licences count pageviews?
No. A web licence covers every website, web app, newsletter and web ad the licensee owns or runs, however many visitors they get. Nobody has to add a tracking script or report traffic to us.
I'm a designer buying for a client. Whose name goes on it?
Your client's. Tick the box at checkout to say you're buying on their behalf. The licence belongs to the client, and you can install the fonts to do their work.
Do licences expire?
No. You pay once and the licence lasts for good, on the terms of the version you bought.
Buying and paying
Which currency do you charge in?
Australian dollars. Your bank converts the price if your card is in another currency. Every price is on the font's page before you reach checkout.
Do prices include GST?
Yes, for buyers in Australia. Every price includes GST, and Stripe emails a tax invoice with the GST shown. Buyers outside Australia pay the same price with no GST. Add your ABN at checkout and it goes on the invoice.
Who handles payment?
Stripe. We never see or store card details. Stripe keeps the order record and sends the tax invoice.
Do I need an account?
No. You get your files straight after paying, and by email. If you lose the email, go to Your orders, enter the address you paid with, and we'll send fresh links.
Can I get a refund?
If a file won't install or doesn't work as its page describes, we'll fix it or refund you. That's your right under the Australian Consumer Law. We don't refund a change of mind once you've downloaded the files. If you bought the wrong licence, tell us within 30 days and we'll swap it, refunding or charging the difference.
Are there discounts?
Two or more uses in one order take 20% off. Buying several styles of a family takes up to 45% off. Students, teachers and registered charities can ask us for a discount.
Can I pay by bank transfer or get a quote first?
Yes, for larger orders and companies over 250 people. Email us with what you need and we'll send a quote and an invoice.
Trials
Is the trial free?
Yes, with no sign-up and no time limit. It holds the full character set, renamed with the word Trial so it never mixes with a licensed copy.
What can I do with a trial font?
Tests, mock-ups, pitches to clients, competition entries and school work. Once the work is published, sold or shown to the public, buy a licence. The trial licence has the details.
Files and installing
What formats do I get?
TTF files for desktop, apps, video and e-books, which work on Mac, Windows and Linux. WOFF2 files for the web, with a ready-made CSS file.
How do I install the fonts?
On a Mac, double-click the TTF file and choose Install. On Windows, right-click it and choose Install. For the web, upload the WOFF2 files to your site and add the CSS file that comes with them.
Why is my name inside the font files?
Every file we send carries your licence number, and desktop files also carry the licensee's name. It shows the copy is licensed and lets us trace a file that has been shared. Web fonts hold the licence number only, because anyone can download them from a website.
Do I get updates?
Yes. When we improve a font you've licensed, download the new version with your order links at no cost.
Licence questions
We got an email saying we use your font. What now?
Thanks for reading it. We check the web for our fonts now and then, and most of the time we find people who forgot to buy a licence, or an agency that used a trial by mistake. If you already have a licence, reply with your licence number and we'll update our records. If you don't, the email links to the licence you need, at the normal price, and that's the end of it. There are no penalties or back fees if you sort it out within 30 days.
Why do you check?
We're a small, independent foundry. Licences pay for the time it takes to draw a typeface. Asking politely is fairer to everyone who paid.
